🧘 A Sacred Day of Stillness

In a world that seldom slows down, this past weekend gifted us something truly special — a sacred pause.

On a quiet afternoon kissed by the Irish countryside, we came together for a Himalayan Meditation Retreat, beginning with a grounding walk through the 12 O’Clock Hills and culminating in serene silence at the Sunyata Buddhist Meditation Centre.

🌿 Gathering in Nature – 12 O’Clock Hills

We met at the 12 O’Clock Hills car park around 3:00 PM, greeted by clear skies, fresh mountain air, and the warmth of shared purpose. A nearby restroom and the sense of nature’s quiet promise set the perfect tone for the afternoon. After a brief group photo to mark the beginning, we began our short hike along the red trail — a gentle path surrounded by soft trees and the earthy scent of moss and leaf.

Halfway through the trail, we found a peaceful clearing near a small waterfall — a hidden sanctuary. Under the shelter of a humble tree, we placed a few meditation mats, thoughtfully carried to ensure everyone could sit comfortably and remain connected to the Earth.

This grounding is an essential part of Himalayan Meditation — where Mother Earth is said to draw our stress downward and restore our focus. The silence that followed was filled with presence.

We meditated together for nearly 30 minutes, eyes closed, hearts open, minds still.

Afterward, participants shared their meditation experiences, and it was heartening to hear how deeply the surroundings supported their practice.

We resumed our trail, continuing just a little further before gently circling back to the car park around 4:30 PM.

🕯️ A Deeper Dive – Sunyata Buddhist Meditation Centre

From the hills, we travelled together to Sunyata Meditation Centre, where we had informed the kind residents of our arrival. Reaching at 5:15 PM, we were welcomed with serene silence and soft smiles.

Inside this peaceful Buddhist sanctuary, we were joined by a few more meditators native to the space. We sat together once more, sharing in another 30-minute Himalayan Meditation — this time in a different kind of stillness. The energy of the space was calm, anchored by years of mindful practice and sacred intention.

The experience was phenomenal — a blending of presence, collectivity, and inner reflection.

We closed the day with a group photo and warm goodbyes, dispersing around 6:30 PM, our hearts full and our minds quiet.

💫 Why This Matters

This retreat wasn’t about a destination — it was about returning to our natural state. The walk, the trees, the water, the earth — all became part of the meditation itself. By combining nature and silence, we experienced a deep, grounding stillness that only Himalayan Meditation can offer.

Whether sitting beneath a tree or in a meditation hall, we found the same peace. The same connection. The same inner light.

“Peace is within you. No matter how hard you chase, you’ll never find it outside.”
